You may have heard about it on Dr. Oz when it initially aired in 2012. After the noteworthy Dr. Oz put his stamp on the formula, Garcinia Cambogia became increasingly popular.
What is Garcinia Cambogia?
Garcinia Cambogia or the tamarind fruit is a delicious tasting, a petite tropical treat which grows in Southeast Asia. Aside from being tasty, you will find that it is rich in iron, niacin, calcium, phosphorus, thiamin, riboflavin and hydroxycitric acid.
Hydroxycitric acid (HCA) comes from the fruit’s skin, which is the active ingredient in the diet pill Garcinia Cambogia. What is special about this particular diet pill, is that the extract diet pill should work without any special exercise or specific diet meal plan. Sounds ideal, doesn’t it?
Because many believe in Dr. Oz and they want to lose weight, Garcinia Cambogia is the most recommended diet supplement still today. Not only that, others have made their own versions of this pill.
Some are mere imitations of the exclusive Garcinia Cambogia.
How Garcinia Cambogia Works – Few Studies
As a guide to buying a diet pill that is truly effective, it must fulfill a few obligations first. Dr. Oz places significance on these factors. It must
Encompass 100% all natural or pure elements,
Contain the minimum requirement of being at least 50% pure hydroxycitric acid,
Bear the words “HCA” or “Garcinia Cambogia,”
Commit to a minimum quantity of 500 mg per capsule, and
Manufactured in an FDA registered facility and GMP certified lab.
Typically, a person will gain weight because of inactivity. You see, the body transforms carbohydrates into energy. However, if we don’t take advantage of this energy, it becomes abdominous tissue. It settles in our stomachs, our thighs, and arms or wherever the body can hoard the fat.
Consuming HCA controls the effect of fat-producing enzymes called Citrate Lyase – there are few studies in rats (2). The user will have fewer food cravings and by controlling fat-producing enzymes, the levels of serotonin increases.
More studies in rats showing that Garcinia Cambogia works in weight loss with some side effects like acute oral toxicity, acute dermal toxicity, primary dermal irritation and primary eye irritation. (3, 4, 5).
However, one particular and biggest Human study (12 weeks) proved that there wasn’t a significant weight loss when using the Garcinia Cambogia diet pill. The experiment includes 135 dieters in two groups and compares garcinia with a placebo, meaning a staged pill. (6)
The study in 2011 of no less than three six weeks, concluded low weight loss – about two pounds, to be exact. Additionally, is some surprising news about this supplement.
How Safe is Garcinia Cambogia – Side Effects
Garcinia Cambogia is not medicine. The effectiveness of this supplement is not the responsibility of the FDA. At the same time, the expert on supplements, Dr. Sue Decotiis, advises us that the FDA cannot regulate its use unless it fosters a cluster of illnesses or severe common side effects.
Few users report nausea and stomach or mild digestive concerns. A person already implementing a potassium or calcium supplement could inherit some side effects. The manufacturer’s control the amount of HCA used, furthermore, what they are blended with. She continued on to say that other brands don’t meet up to Dr. Oz’s expectations and have failed both lab quality/quantity tests without any future prospect of major trials.
On the other hand, an examination with the Food and Chemical Toxicology (2005) proves high levels of Garcinia Cambogia will lead to testicular atrophy and other toxicity in mice. There are other studies nonetheless, in the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health.
